February Enrichment will be a busy one! We have lots of new programs coming to Pine Hill this month!

On February 5th the 2nd graders welcomed a new addition to the enrichment programing. The Museum of Science visited Pine Hill to discuss Life Cycles. With an active discussion, as well as a video presentation, our second graders learned all about the life cycles of plants, reptiles, mammals and amphibians. The Museum also brought a few animals for the students to demonstrate these life cycles and were treated to a viewing of an albino Red Rat snake as well as a large salamander.

On Friday, February 8th Pine Hill students will be listening to the music of the George W. Russell, Jr & Co Band at All School Meeting. In celebration of Black History Month, the Band will be playing African-American music that has influenced both the musical and political movements in America. This lively program demonstrates the rise and changing roles in the African-American community while showing how music was a vehicle for communication in the Underground Railroad and as a common ground during the Civil Rights Movement. The program will also explore gospel music by highlighting its various styles throughout history. Please feel free to join us for this new and dynamic performance!

"Ben Franklin" will be visiting the Pine Hill 3rd graders on Wednesday, January 13th. Dick Elliot, a long time Pine Hill favorite, will be back to talk to our students all about the life and times of Benjamin Franklin.
Mr. Elliot's engaging program will teach the children a great many facts about one of America's Founding Fathers.

Barbara O'Connor, award-winning author and first time Pine Hill visitor, will be working with our 5th graders on Tuesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 28th. Ms. O'Connor's books have been nominated for reading awards in 38 states. During her two day visit, Pine Hill students will work with Barbara to learn the right tools and how to apply them to write more descriptively. In the writer's workshops students will learn the most effective strategies to add details, use good word choices all while creating detailed descriptive settings and developing strong characters. We are all looking forward to this exciting program!

All these programs are brought to your children by CSA Enrichment and wouldn't be possible without the contributions from parents/guardians. Thank you for your generous support!
If you'd like to get involved with Enrichment please contact Nan Theberge or Rebecca Graf.
