Healthy on the Hill Winterberries
Although berries tend to be more expensive in the winter, here is a good reason to bend your budget a little bit. In a recent study, it was found that women who ate just one 1/2 cup serving of blueberries or two 1/2 cup servings of strawberries every week for 20 years, postponed memory loss for over 2.5 years!! For something different, try berries in a smoothie - mix about 3/4 cup of milk (soy, almond, coconut, rice or cow) with a banana, some berries and ice cubes. Add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein power for an extra boost, blend together for about a minute. Great for breakfast, after school snacks and dessert! You can even freeze into popsicles too.
