Have a Great Summer!
2010 CSA Annual Report
Overview
It was another amazing year at Pine Hill Elementary thanks to the joint efforts of the faculty/staff at Pine Hill and the members of the Sherborn community. Once again CSA delivered on its mission to provide manpower and financial resources to better the experience of our children at Pine Hill. Congratulations to all who contributed!
Volunteering
This past year the CSA coordinated thousands of hours of volunteer time to support faculty and staff with running programs, beautifying the school, coordinating enrichment, and leading fundraising.
Volunteers came forward to help deliver in-school programs such as ArtWorks, Broadmoor Science, Gymnastics Spotting, Dining Room Aides, Third Grade Bird Garden, Library, Bird Feeders, Kindergarten Classroom Centers and “Royal Readers”, and Jump Rope for Heart.
Behind the scenes parents are giving their time and talents to make possible programs such as METCO, Bus Pass, Notes From Home, Principal’s Coffees, School Event Photography, Slide Show, Teacher Appreciation Events, Room Parents and the Lobby Bulletin Board.
Additionally they are instrumental in delivering fundraising programs including School Directory, Book Fairs, Pine Hill Store, Wrapping Paper, One Cause and GoodSearch, Gift Cards, Box Tops for Education, and the CSA Yard Sale.
CSA volunteers were also out in the community organizing events such as CSA's luncheon for Sherborn's seniors, and numerous CSA Social Committee events.
Fundraising
The CSA’s fundraising efforts raised approximately $33,000 this year. This is a remarkable accomplishment in a challenging economy and a testament to both the hard work of the fundraising volunteers and the generosity of the Sherborn Community. Fundraising was a combination of short term campaigns and long term initiatives that ran for the entire year.
The main fundraising event for this past year was the Fund for Excellence. Given the economic climate, the campaign had remarkable participation (one hundred families) and raised nearly $20,000. This campaign is critical in a non-auction year for allowing us to maintain our high level of investment in enrichment and teacher support.
Thank you for your continued support of initiatives such as Innisbrook, Gift Cards, Pine Hill Directory, Library Book Fair, Notes From Home, Spring Book Fair, Pine Hill Store, Yard Sale, Easy Money, and the Fund for Excellence.
Teacher Support
CSA continues to put dollars directly in the hands of teachers so they may acquire the materials they need in the classroom. We do this through teacher stipends – teachers are given a lump sum of money in the Fall to invest in classroom supplies, and also through the bi-annual teacher grant process.
Enrichment
CSA Enrichment brought 32 programs to the students of Pine Hill this past year, a combination of authors, storytellers, scientists, performing artists, animals and poets. Once again parent volunteers worked closely with the teachers in every grade to schedule enrichment events to augment the current curriculum in each grade.
